I've installed drivers and profiles for a Canon PIXMA Pro 9500 Mark
II printer. To profile photo papers for which profiles aren't
included with the drivers, I've got a Colormunki. To use the
Colormunki I have to print the test charts with no color processing at
all. Due to the fact that the Canon drivers for this printer do not
provide a way to do this, the workaround is to use the "Generic RGB"
profile. In order to use that, one must choose "More Profiles..."
under the "Color Options" tab of the print dialog.
My problem is that when I do this, any application that tries it
exits immediately with an error in CoreFoundation, trying to build a
string to put in the pop-up menu. I don't know what could cause
this. Colorsync app says all the profiles are fine. The disk checks
out OK under Disk Utility (and Tech Tool Pro). Resetting the printing
system and reinstalling the Canon drivers didn't help either.
I can't find any documentation on the nature or location of the
system's Colorsync database. I know there is one, because Colorsync
does not list all the profiles present on the system - for example,
under /Library/Colorsync/Printers, only the printers actually present
on the system have their profiles included.
Can anyone tell me where this database is located, and how to fix or
reinitialize it. I don't care to use the "nuclear option" (OS
reinstall).
