Hi List members
thanks for your input
I have found a practical solution to my question
Setting my RIPs assumed RGB input to GenericRGB
On my test workstation, when I import sRGB, AppleRGB, AdobeRGB(1998)
and ProPhotoRGB versions of the photodisc test files into MS word,
their on-screen appearance match each other (although the on-screen
color is not correct). When I print them through the normal MS Word
print dialogue box to our color managed printer, all four images print
identically. But all equally over saturated and higher contrast
compared with the original photodisc test file (and the prints of it
made through photoshop).
I noticed that when using MS Words "save as picture" option [with the
jpg save option] to extract my images back out from MS Word, that all
four of my imported test images save-out as files tagged with Generic
RGB.
So I took a punt and I changed my printer RIPS assumed input profile
from Adobe RGB(1998) to Generic RGB
Now when printing to our color managed laser (with Generic RGB as the
assumed input) using MS Words normal print dialogue box , I get an a
close color and tone match in comparison to a print of the photodisc
test file printed directly thru Photoshop.
Regards
Peter Miles
