Can you confirm that the image files in question, aside from their embedded
profiles, did NOT contain the exact same RGB numbers? Because, if they did,
THAT is the reason why they look the same, not because of any embedded
profile being honored.

Me too. Our conclusions couldn't be more divergent. One of us is clearly
mistaken.
