"Color inconstancy" is NOT a substitute term for "metameric failure" (!).
That's not at all what it's referring to. I never either indicated nor
implied that it should be taken that way.

I'm not sure what you mean by "inverted", but the whole point of my
endlessly distorted and misunderstood messages is to individuate, define and
separate the two distinct, though related, concepts of "color constancy" and
"metamerism" (that must be the nth time that I emphasize the point that they
are distinct though related, but not equivalent...maybe one day it will
register!).
