Pearlescent inks or paints are characterized by microscopic metallic beads
in suspension. So, yes, the appearance of color changes with viewing angle.
The whole car paint industry has long established standards for measuring
pearlescent pain colors at a number of angles, 15, 30, 50 and 75, if memory
serves.

I wonder if the Pearlescent description indicates how this stuff differs
from a truly metallic / polished metal appearance media?
Is the unprinted material more or less white-ish? Does the appearance change
much depending on the angle / diffuse nature of ambient light or the angle
at which it's viewed?
Does it pick up reflections of lighting instruments (lamps) or other light
sources, then reflect them back at you whether clearly or distorted?
