Hi, guys - I need some advice.
I'm getting ready to upgrade my displays. Currently I'm using an Eizo
ColorEdge 210 as my main screen, with an Eizo FlexScan L568 for a pallet
monitor. The 210 is getting a bit dim and will soon be demoted to
pallet patrol, while a ___________ display will replace it. The fill-in-
the-blank problem is because much has changed since I last went shopping.
Starting out on the Eizo site my choice would probably be between the
CG241W and CG243W (I'd like to go to a larger screen, but given the
times....). When comparing the two 24x's, however, I run into VA vs.
IPS, DVI & DisplayPort, 16.77 million vs. 1.07 billion, and other terms
that are new to me. A trip to Wikipedia has brought me somewhat up to
speed, but, as a question to those who really know this stuff, what's
the best way to go?
Other questions I have... Will I need to replace my video card
(MacPro3,1/NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT) to benefit from the IPS screen? Can
DisplayPort go the distance? My setup requires about 10'-12' of display
cable. What else should I be looking at besides the Eizo? Whatever I
get, it will need a hood. I'm currently using a DTP94 and basICColor to
profile.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Tony
