That's a very fair question. Before I began working here, they did try using
GMG and ColorBurst. The problem is that we have eight printers in four
locations on at least two separate LANs (which don't see each other). One
location has one printer and one computer. 2nd location has one printer and
two computers that must print to it. 3rd location has one printer and three
computers that must print to it. 4th location as the rest of the printers
with eight computers that must print to all printers. So, we would need
multiple print servers, running multiple RIPs per print server. The
complexity and expense of setting this up is just too much, especially
considering that we only would need the RIP for the purpose of printer
calibration. We do not do page layout, CMYK, or print anything other than
photos.
Maybe there is an easier way to set it all up and I'm always open to
suggestions.
