Please note the first line in my message, I don't speak for the ICC in this
message. There is some work being done in this area by member companies.
The original standard for the web was sRGB, it was published as part of the
W3C spec very early on. It is going to be very difficult to displace. If
someone said, "please revisit sRGB within the ICC" , I certainly would vote
positive, but the ICC doesn't set the specifications for the WEB. That is a
completely different group of people.
The other problem is the reliance upon the OS for the color matching method.
The ICC specification only specifies the profile format. I am assuming that
Adobe builds their own color matching method into the PDF viewing mechanism.
That is why it works across browsers and OS.
