I too have been looking everywhere for input on the product from when it
first shipped. It was so highly anticipated for so long, I'm a bit
surprised so few reviews are out there at this point. Anyway, Terry is
far more knowledgeable then I and probably has a more well rounded
impression of it than I. My use has been mostly CMYKOG, so my
experiences may have very little to do with the main user base. I did
make some RGB profiles on a variety of fine art papers in the beginning,
it went smoothly with no problems and the results were excellent. As
Terry said those of us already using Monaco Profiler may see no
practical visual difference, and that is the case with me. I do share
the same interface concerns others have expressed, but once learned I
generally ignore that stuff. One ongoing irritation, if I've made a
profile, then want to make another from another existing measurement set
and drag it in then go to next steps... it doesn't replace the last
built profile name with the now relevant measurement data name... many
rename at that point anyway, but it does pop the measurement file name
in when starting from scratch, so seems like it should when doing the
next as well..
The RGB profiles probably improved little with optimization, but
possibly would have if the 1st round charts had been small, I just did
it anyway. CMYKOG however, seems to require the optimization to clean up
the neutral axis, 1st round is not that good in that regard even with
2000+ patch charts. Optimized look good. I have other issues with the
CMYKOG settings as well, but they are probably outside the scope of
these initial impressions for most people and I'm waiting for support
feedback.
I'm using it on 10.6.7 with an Isis and have had no crashes. I have had
some error problems during profile builds that I can't nail down yet and
the alerts give no info at all. Anyone wanting to know more about the
CMYKOG problems or have experience that may help just ask, but at this
point I'm hoping there can be progress as version 1.0 support issues.
That's all I got...

I'm looking for feedback, comments, problems, short-comings, or positives
about Xrite i1Publish. I'm on a Mac platform and have used
*ProfileMaker Pro
v5.xx, also Monaco Profiler* with an i1Pro UV Cut spectro.
Does the new i1Publish software make noticeably better RGB and CMYK
printer
profiles than either of the other packages? I know it has a few new
features, but it also requires iterative profiling targets (at least
that is
my understanding).
Any problems with Snow Leopard, glitches, program hanging, program
feature
set, or anything else?
I am specifically looking for feedback comparing the above software.
Unless
the new software is a significant step forward in accuracy, quality,
etc, I
will probably stick with what I currently use.
Thanks,
