Sorry to burst your bubble Martin but ColorBurst Overdrive is not going to be even CLOSE to the right solution for a Kodak Approval halftone proofer.
First thing, you'll need to use a front-end system that can use device link profiles so you'll have control over primary/secondary purity and preservation of the black channel. A standard source/destination ICC conversion is not going to do that for you. Bottom line, it's not "the right thing" to fully color-manage a Kodak Approval halftone proofer in the same way we would color-manage an inkjet contone proofer.
I would look at something like Alwan CMYK Optimizer as a color server or, better yet, GMG Color Server. Either one of these is capable of color-managing a dot proofer correctly.
I'm curious how you think ColorBurst Overdrive RIP would even drive a Kodak Approval....Overdrive is generally meant to "hook-up" with an RGB inkjet print driver.
