Tell me if I'm playing with semantics but I do believe the terminology should be right. The hairs need to split finely.
If these colours are outside the visible spectrum then how can we see them?! I thought Lab defined the limits of the human visual system. Does ProPhoto occupy a space outside Lab? Not according to the gamut maps I have seen.
Are we getting confused with the number of colours that can be theoretically described within a colour space and the number of colours we can discriminate.
