Andrew, I can see it being important to certain kinds of forensic photography, medical and other scientific research, the cataloguing of museum or other collections, and the reproduction of exact product colours for sales catalogs and advertising. But for *fine-art" photography and making photos of my grandchildren, no way.

Good question! Some will say it is possible of course. Some will so it can't be done. But if it can, I'd like to know an empirical way of proving this.
The goal however is something very, very few photographers need nor want.
