This program was ColorSage, which used a spectral matching method to create an ICC profile which would produce a very close match to the original. ColorSage used a spectral engine from HP called Artist. ColorSage is still available from Better Light but it can only be used with an HP Z3200 printer (this is a license requirement from HP), so its use is limited.
A somewhat newer version of this method is called ColorPony and is available from ColorYoke. It uses a different spectral engine but gives results that can be used with any printer.
