Has the average user spent $6000 on creative suite products in the last decade? I have no idea, But that is what Adobe is hoping we will be doing, going forward. The uncertainty of SW upgrades and purchases vs the known quantity of $50/ month/ user has to be very attractive for Adobe.
Quark was just as dominant and quite arrogant about pricing when InDesign arrived on the scene; turns out there was room for a new product after all.
Netflix had all their users on subscription and look what they decided to do with pricing, with their captive audience.
Perhaps this will spark some actual competition for Adobe, who knows.
There is a certain mindset that is OK with subscription services and rely on the benevolence of their providers, and there are those who prefer to own their own stuff. No amount of impassioned argument is likely to alter those positions.
