Andrew,
I'm not going to hold my breath for a change of this magnitude (10, on the
Richter scale) to happen.
So many cons for so little pros, in appearance?
Yes, I'm aware of the genetics behind AdobeRGB(1998).
I feel like a character in the movie Sodom and Gomorrah, if I look behind
I'll be turned into a stone...
(Wasn't it a movie?)

You know the record of Adobe RGB (1998) and how it was once SMPTE-240M?
Messy.
I'm not sure fixing this is worthwhile, I have to agree with Lars that in
the roughly 17 years Adobe RGB (1998) has been around, altering it could
affect legacy workflows and that's a big problem. Consequently in the 17
years of Adobe RGB (1998), has this been a problem for many? In fact, why is
anyone using Adobe RGB (1998) anyway? Kind of the small side gamut wise
IMHO.
