This probably isn't the best place to talk about the Delta 1010, but I
have noticed strange frame size
behavior. On some days, particular buffer sizes (particularly large
ones > 10000) are reset by the device (setting the
kAudioDevicePropertyBufferSize property and then getting it produces
different results) and with other runs the same buffer size is
accepted. Often these fickle buffer sizes correspond with playback
glitches when they do succeed. I had other difficulties with the Delta
(digital clipping for input signals above +- .5, I couldn't change my
sampling rates with their control panel et al) but most vanished after I
installed the latest classic MacOS driver and ran the control panel from
MacOS 9.2.1. But the buffer issues seem to remain.
It would be nice if the larger buffer sizes were supported, as playback
stability can be greatly improved (at the obvious expense of real-time
control latency).

Hi,
I'm trying to use the recently released MidiMan Delta 10x10 drivers for
MacOSX and have some questions:
- the MidiMan Delta 10x10 drivers come with a configuration utility "M
audio delat control panel" that allow to change the DMA buffer size.
- when setting this dma size from 512 and up, the Apple audio
application
like Quicktime or the Java "SMFPlayer" work correctly.
- when setting dma to 256 of smaller sizes, the previous applications do
not work anymore (no sound out)
- using the "Daisy" program i saw that the MidiMan Delta 10x10 drivers
return a frame range from 14 frame to the size of the choosen dma buffer
size
(for example 14 - 512)
It is a driver problem or an application problem? Are applications
supposed
to adapt to the frame size range declared by the driver? Or does the
driver
need to declare a large frame size range? (like the "built in audio
controler" that return 14 - 8192)
Thanks in advance
