It is my experience also that Classic apps running in Classic under OS X
10.1 are generally unable to access sound input devices that are readily
available when the system is booted in OS 9.2.1. I believe that this is the
point that the author of the first message of the thread was trying to make.
When I boot my Titanium 500 with OS 9.2.1, the Sound control panel lists the
following input devices:
Built-in Mic
CD
Internal Modem
Zoomed Video
None
When I launch Classic on the same machine under OS X 10.1, and open the
Classic Sound Control panel, it lists none of these devices. Hence it seems
logical to expect that any Classic app that uses the Sound Manager will also
not be able to locate any sound input devices. This expectation is borne out
by my experience: I've tried launching quite a few Classic apps under OS X,
and all of them are unable to access any input devices.

This does not mean that the underlying stack does not support it. There
