I would ask about this on a list that is aimed at dealing with
classic apps. CoreAudio provides the basic audio layers that
classic uses, but *how* classic uses them on X is not a matter
we're overly familiar with.
But Laurent brings up a good point - if your app is a Carbon app,
it will run on both 9 and X without having to launch classic.
