hello
I'd like to know if it's possible that sound created by an app on a 1st mac
could be recorded *live* on a 2nd thru usb, firewire, or ethernet?

This is one possible application of a network.

Easiest way is to let your recording app output the data to Standard Out and the recording app read from Standard In. Then, on Mac1, do:

creating_app | ssh Mac2 recording_app

Other concepts are Socket Streams, Distributed Objects (Cocoa), etc. I'd reccomend to read the Archives of Omnigroup's OS X Developer List. The issue came up there regularly.

Markus
