I haven't used my iMic lately, but I too have noticed popping and clicking
in the past, but only during the first few seconds of a new recording.
I've looked closely at the pops and clicks and noticed that they are not
just mere discontinuties in the audio stream, but entire chunks of
waveform data that appears to have been sped up by decimation (that is, it
is previous audio data that has somehow made its way back into the audio
stream again, but with every other sample missing).
It didn't matter what application I used. The pops and clicks even showed
up in CoreAudio apps I had written myself.
At the time I suspected that the iMic driver might have a bug in its
buffer processing, but I never looked into it further. I was able to
work around the pops and clicks by simply starting my recordings a good
five seconds ahead of what I intended to record. It still was an annoying
bug, however.
My setup then was:
10.1.5
Powerbook G4 400MHz
