Drawing a streaming waveform..

Hi all,

A bit of a newbie question in the same vein as one posted earlier.
I have a little program that is randomly generating notes using the
NoteAllocator routines in QT. I would like to be able to grab the audio
output this generates and display it using GL. How do I access the
sound output data? Is there a (hopefully simple) system call out there
that I can use? I was hoping to have a simple visual that looks like a
vibrating string thingee..(very articulate eh?). Thanks in advance for
any help out...
