QuickTime bug? coreaudio ? Sibelius?

  • Subject: QuickTime bug? coreaudio ? Sibelius?

I'm playing with Sibelius using QT as my synth (Pismo 500). Sibelius is a fantastic scoring app, but I'm finding it nearly impossible to use with QT. I know there was talk on this list about the QT vibrato and reverb bugs (apparently fixed , to be released in a future update ?). Are these bugs related to the problem where notes are played 1/2 step lower than written? I can correct the problem by opening up Sibelius's Devices... menu and clicking the TEST button for QuickTime. It plays an ascending and descending scale using piano. I go back to my score and the pitches play accurately. However, as you make changes to your score, you are constantly going to the Devices menu for the work around. As you can imagine, it breaks up whatever musical idea you had in mind.

Is this a QT bug or a Sibelius bug? if QT (or coreaudio), when can we expect the fix ?

Thanks,
Kevin
