Could anyone advise :
- If you plug in 2 identical Stereo USB Audio input devices, are
they individually accessible from Core audio. The objective being
to record 4 channels simultaneously.
If they are identical USB devices, they had better have serial
numbers or some programmable name in an EEPROM that the driver can
use to uniquely identify them.
Most devices we have seen to date do not have a serial number. Nor do
they have a programmable name.
If they don't, then every time somebody moves a USB cable there is a
fairly good chance the application is no longer pointed at the same
connections. [Developers of devices and drivers note this.]
Firewire is probably the same.
All FireWire devices have global unique id numbers (GUID).
