The reason why is that the driver in the kernel is the rendezvous point for
all the data going to a particular device. That's where it is all mixed and
transmitted to the hardware.

This sort of thing would be a useful feature to add if we can figure out a
way to do it that doesn't cause the performance of the system to take a hit.
