You are,
it seems Apple have redefined the meaning of the word "preliminary",
I'm convinced Cupertino is on a different time-loop to the rest of the
planet. Something which became abundantly clear the first time I indexed a
hard disk in classic ... 36 hours ... 1 hour ... 10 minutes ... and for
about half an hour "less than a minute" ;-)

Apart from this list the CoreAudio headers are currently the best source of
documentation, as for Cocoa, you are probably better off wrapping the C API
yourself (good advice which was given to me). It's a good way to get to
grips with the API at least!

There is also a useful AudioUnit SDK which seems to be only available to ADC
members.
