For some reason a few folks have been contacting me off list re this thread,
both agreeing/disagreeing with my attitude. To put the record straight...
I for one most certainly appreciate the hard work and efforts of the
CoreAudio developers, Jeff, Bill, Laurent, Doug et-al. However the hard work
is almost in vain if documentation is not readily / easily obtainable.
It also causes repeated queries on this list.
When I first started with CoreAudio the first place I looked was
http://developer.apple.com/audio/index.html
I am sure that is where everyone goes initially and that page has not
changed since I first saw it several months ago. I would like to suggest
that it is about time the page is upgraded to provide more information, such
as that provided by Darren's last post. It should be made clear to new
developers that the bulk of information is provided in the API headers. And
links should be made to those Apple and 3rd party examples that exist.
I will say that at the time, I had to stop development for several days
while I hunted for information. That was then. Now the info exists but seems
to be scattered. Time to gather it all into one place and I think the best
place could be around
http://developer.apple.com/audio/index.html.
