(HAL) clock sources

  • Subject: (HAL) clock sources

hi. please forgive the "DUH" nature of this question, but after my confusion
over data sources, i want to make sure to get this right.

i've never actually seen or played with an audio device with multiple, settable
clock sources. i assume that, given the presentation of audio samples by the
HAL, that a device can only have a Device Master Clock Source, which encompasses
all channels/streams in the record and playback directions, and that means the
only property address that makes sense is

AudioDevice* channel 0 direction 0

is this assumption correct? i'm not sure exactly what it would mean if different
channels, streams, or directions on a device could have distinct clock sources,
but my exposure to pro audio gear is nil.

thanks.

-mike
