Now I'm tired and get some sleep. I follow this later, if not
everybody is bored by this.
Cheers,
;) Urs
We're definitely not bored...
I think the points everyone is making are pointing at a client/server
architecture with multiple clients (and maybe more than one server,
too).
The server would be an audio processing engine. The clients would
handle the user interface.
One processing engine would support multiple clients simultaneously
controlling the same session. Clients could look like a typical DAW
program or could be hardware controllers... Or they could be
something totally new. This would also allow the development of task
specific clients (like a tracking controller or an editing
controller) that all play in the same game plan.
This kind of client server architecture can also allow more than one
person to work on the same session using multiple workstations
(something that can be done with a large console, but that can't be
done on a DAW).
