OK mea culpa - I was trying to create a node with an empty component description :-(
Interestingly AUGraphNewNode() thought that was a fine idea :-) (It returned 0).

Here's my break down on the few AUs I've got to play with:

Destroy FX: Transverb - crashing in process()
Destroy FX: Polarizer - fairly happy but complaining about a lack of a beatAndTempoProc which I'm not going to provide because it's a live performance app.
UrsFX: Rumblence - very happy. :-)

Unfortunately none of these are exposing presets and I've yet to figure out how to
create a window in Cocoa that's suitable for their Carbon views. Any assistance in that
area would be appreciated.
