With the fix I just came across, I'm ready to release the first public version of a little app I've been using to test Audio Units.

There are options to select a midi source, a synth AU, and an effect AU. And you can open edit windows for each AU. The patch popups are unimplemented for now. (Although the version is 1.0.1, it's really just a quick but useful hack).
