AU icons?

  • Subject: AU icons?

I am sure some applications would find it useful to show an icon for Audio Units for display purposes, so I think there should be a way for AUs to provide a custom icon family or a reference to an .icns file stored, for example, in the component's bundle.

Has anybody ever thought of doing this, or is there any reason why this shouldn't be done?

Should an application use GetComponentInfo() and use the handle passed in the componentIcon parameter?
Or should the icon be specified in the Info.plist file of the component's bundle and then retrieved with some API which returns the CFBundle for a specific component? Is there any such API?

Thanks...
Alberto.
