I just tried building both the Xcode project and the Project Builder project for HALLab and didn't have any troubles. Everything seemed to build just fine. I was using a stock install of 10.3.1.

GetSimpleName is a method of CAStreamBasicDescription. Since you couldn't find it, this probably means that somehow, the HALLab project is picking up an old version of the PublicUtility code. This means that there's something screwy about your system that has left you with an out of date SDK.

I'm not sure how this could happen on a clean install of 10.3.x other than if you installed one of our old SDKs on top of what the Panther installer put on your disk. I suppose it might happen with an upgrade install from an older system, but I don't know.

I'm getting errors when trying to compile the HALLab project in CoreAudio Examples. GetSimpleName wasn't declared in the header, which I've fixed, but now I'm having problems with CACFNumber, which looks like an ambiguous overload.

I'm using Panther 10.3.1/Xcode, do I have an out of date sdk? Or did I miss some optional package in the upgrade?
