When I use coreaudio to get a device list, it sees only the Line Input
and my USB iMic. Are you saying that in order for me to see a DV
camera connected via Firewire , that I have to create a driver? I
guess I thought that the OS came with drivers for these type of
devices.
Assuming everything is setup correctly, you should see the camera just
fine. If you want to make sure, you can try Sound Studio, I know that
it shows a DV device for input (even without one connected!). So you
may want to make sure that your search code is correct & that your
camera is in the right mode. I'm sure if you post to the list someone
can point out an error (unfortunately, I myself haven't written capture
code, I just know the CoreAudio architecture).

Reality is what, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.
Failure is not an option. It is a privilege reserved for those who try.
