I wasn't able to find anything in the archives either. Can you recall
any
keywords from those discussions that would guide my search?

Basically, I just want to trigger an action on the plugin in response
to some GUI
event. For example: perform a MIDI learn, or undo an operation, or
clone a voice,
or copy/paste a preset, etc.

I could manage a lookup table myself that maps an AudioUnit to a
component
instance, but all plugins will be doing this, so I'm guessing there's
some
support for this already?
