Hi
I apologize for a way off-topic question, though it is related peripherally
to Mac development (GRIN).
My WallStreet works wonderful if it stays plugged into the wall, but has
developed either backup battery or powermanager board problems. If
disconnected from power for awhile, even with dual full-charged batteries,
it won't boot until connected back to the wall, batteries removed, power
reset and then boot. Probably get it fixed easy enough, but can't afford
extended downtime without a replacement powerbook.
Our Mac MIDI customers are split into two camps, one camp at the edge of
revolution because we haven't released an OSX version yet (a failing we are
working hard to correct). The other camp has older hardware, begging us not
to abandon OS 9 for at least one more program version.
So if my PowerBook Wallstreet must be replaced by a new G4 powerbook, it
will be very inconvenient if there is no way to optionally boot straight
into OS 9.2.2 to work on the next 'classic' program version.
Is it possible to install a separate OS 9.2.2 partition and cajole the
newest PowerBook G4 to boot straight into OS 9.2.2?
The WallStreet has a 500 MHz G4 card /w 512 Meg memory and dual 40 gig
drives, and works quite satisfactory except for the inconvenience that it is
no longer a "portable" computer...
Thanks for any ideas, and sorry again for the off-topic message.
James Chandler Jr.
