Hi,
There were some plans to support compressed formats by AudioConverter. Would it be ready in Panther?

Yes

In fact, I rather expect that QuickTime would utilize Core Audio instead of SoundManager, e.g. in all Movie related functions. The ideal solution would be an AudioUnit reading from file and providing QT Movie functionality and simplicity. Is there a chance of fusion of these technologies? In Panther?

Not everything is an AudioUnit :)

AudioCodecs are used extensively to represent this functionality

Thanks
