kAudioUnitParameterUnit_Rate and controls

Shouldn't the mapping between kAudioUnitParameterUnit_Rate parameters
and Controls be with a log2 scale, like for
kAudioUnitParameterUnit_Hertz ?
For example, if I have a rate parameter going from .5 to 2., I think it
would be more logical if 1. would set the control to its middle value.
