Personally, I don't think that any assumptions about value distribution
curves are logical. log2 is terrible for Hz in many cases (like LFO
frequencies, for example). The AU API really needs a way for explicitly
specifying value distribution curves. 'Tis my #1 AU gripe, but I've said
this all before... ;)
