One of the best sources for HAL documentation is the header file itself. AudioHardware.h in CoreAudio.framework. Take a look.

Hi,

Where is HAL documented? Coreaudio.pdf is from 2001 and gives you an
overview but not how to work with it. The html docs only cover AudioUnits, Java,
MIDI.

I have been looking at the examples and I was wondering how to tell when
AudioDeviceStart() is playing or recording?

thanks
Jeff
