True, BUT in the case of a softsynth running via a typical plugin API,
there is already the automation / parameter-map API which the synth exposes
to the host. In an ideal world, it seems like the host should provide some
kind of support for mapping the (hardware-world) MIDI-parameterspace on to
that. Otherwise, you run the severe risk of having two overlapping,
conflicting parameter-spaces. No plugin API I've seen yet addresses this
properly.
