:-). Trust me, a generic GUI has never and will never be used
for plugins like all the recent releases (Absynth, OhmBoyz,
Crystal, Zoyd, Mach 5, Kontakt, etc.)
Just getting into AU, so I can't really speak with any authority
here, but on the VST side all the major hosts support a "generic
view". I was suprised that people were actually using this for some
of our plugins that have nice UI's with lots of parameters (but they
were indeed using it). I would think that this is a similar issue to
supporting control via external hardware control surfaces. The
control surface can only "display" parameters in a general way.
