DefaultOutput puzzler

I've got a ReVision user who's working on a laptop with an MBox selected as his default output (in AMS). But ReVision (which uses the DefaultOutputUnit) is coming out of his built-in speakers.

I went "Huh?" but I'd like a better answer if there is one?
