I have checked out inputs in a Zoyd build within Logic. Looked like it worked...

And if I had votes to catch, I'd go for a universal approach. Any behaviour should be available anywhere, and it could be sorted out via Properties...

Nice. So some things have improved since I've tested it... Probably it is working since they added AUEffect support.
But I agree : I don't see any fundamental difference between a MusicDevice and an AUEffect. Neither between an AUEffect and a simple AUBase...
