Most of the users of our drivers are coming from OS9/ASIO - so I don't
think they really care about system prefs..
Chiming in with the others, I must say that one of the most recognized
features of CoreAudio is exactly the end of the exclusive sound stuff.
Just query the user forums, like logic user group on yahoo. They are
very picky about lack of this or that in X, but what they really love,
as if it was godsent, is the ability to run for example Logic and Live
simultaneously. Or, Logic and RAX, to circumvent Logic's limitation of
a single exclusive instrument for live play.
Users have learned quickly that the old MacOS 9/ASIO paradigm is a big
constraint. - I've seen a thread recently where they had some nice
words for a popular device / driver that only worked the old way.
Just my thoughts.
