I've a question as there was some discussion about this a while ago and I think it was resolved but wanted to check...

There were concerns about using AU Views with windows where compositing is on (some comments about mixing controls and HIViews)...

Is that still a problem for anyone? ie. if host apps were to have the windows for the AU with compositing on, is that going to cause any problems... Also - is this actually a preferred choice (compositing) or not?

Well, most things for my stuff are sorted out. The only problem CAUGui still has, the controls don't update. You can use them, parameters change but they do not redraw. I guess I'll be able to fix that if only you raise the pressure on me (Hehe, my current work is "compliance", anyway, so while I'm at it).

So for me, I'm happy with non-Compositing, but I wouldn't cry if if progress rulez.

However, I guess what has to be checked is compatibility of Compositing and VSTGUI or whatever they use in all those VSTs. - I could imagine more than 50% - 80% of all AUs out there currently are the FXpansion Magic Transformatrix, hosting this or that VST, so this ain't an easy question to resolve. - Well, at least those companies that license this technology, they could fix the code within VSTGUI's source code, if that is necessary.

So, hmmm. I'd consult Angus on that topic...

Cheers,

;) Urs
