There's another difference as well...
The render quality sets the dB level where the synth decides that the
release phase of the note is complete and that it can regard the note
as finished.. Thus, a "low" quality setting has I think about a -22dB
level for the note to "finish", whereas the max quality is I think
around -96dB (Chris R can correct me on the actual figures, but its
about that range).. .So, if you don't have lots of notes sounding, or
long releases, etc, then you won't notice much difference, but if you
do have these things, then you should see a drop in CPU usage - of
course, if you have lots of notes sounding etc, then you probably won't
hear the quiet ones anyway, so you won't easily notice that they aren't
there anymore :)

Ah, that is the difference. The DLS units all have internal reverb
off, and the mixer output goes through a separate reverb unit.
Perhaps for the next release I'll provide render-quality settings
etc. for the post-mix reverb unit.

Currently, the main difference is in the quality of the reverb.
If you're using the DLS synth without the internal reverb, then
there's little else which changes...

This is a sanity check, please help -
Should render quality be working for the DLS synth, and should
I hear a marked difference in quality between min & max?
I'm setting this property successfully (subsequent "gets" return
the changed value) and not getting any errors, but I can't hear
any difference. I also don't see much difference in CPU usage.
I'm planning to make setting this property available as an
option to my app's users.
Thanks,
Christopher
