Yes, multiple fully functional compositing windows are no problem with Cocoa.

One thing that I don't like on the idea of multiple windows is the waste of screen estate. My beta testers voted for Tabbed Panes and dynamic changes instead of multiple windows. So this is where I go.

I agree, I would also go for some kind of tab system wherever possible when required, but there are cases where tabs do not suffice. eg: a modular synth with many modules and the user only wants to see / edit 2 or 3 of the modules. Many of us also use dual monitors.

Perhaps this is not an issue at all, maybe I'm making a mountain from a molehill? If we absolutely need more than one window we simply give the user the option to do it ?
