Our knobs use a linear motion that is hOffset-vOffset. So up and/or
right turns the knob clockwise; down and/or right turns the knob
counter-clockwise. This seems to work out pretty well since almost
anything you do (except strict rotational motion) works as you might
expect.
Interesting idea...
That also what we currently do and I like it...
How about a :
cursor of the left part of the knob : up -> clockwise, down ->
anticlockwise
cursor of the right part of the knob : down -> clockwise, up ->
anticlockwise
cursor of the top part of the knob : right -> clockwise, left ->
anticlockwise
cursor of the bottom part of the knob : left -> clockwise, right ->
anticlockwise
This is quite coherent with the physical of a real knob, and should
allow both linear and circular manipulations.
The only problem is if you click on the middle of the knob. But not
more than with circular only knobs...
I think I'll try this this week-end...
