SampleEffect question

Hi all!

Ive got the SampleEffect AU that comes with the DevTools and wanted to know if there is any additional documentation for that sample project.

I am a total newbie in dsp/audio plugins coding and i couldnt get more processing done than increasing/decreasing the volume of the output by simple division/multiply of the output variable.

What actually is the output stream (beside a numerical value), which part of the audio signal is it? Is there a good tutorial/doc on the web about making software plugins and related dsp knowledge ?

Any help is appreciated...thx
