Is there more documentation about MIDIPacketLists than that contained
in the CoreAudio PDF document from May 2001?

After 2.5 years, one would hope for better than this. I hope the
Panther release provides an improvement.
Please allow me to repeat my standard advice to developers who would
like to see improved documentation. The best thing to do is to file an
enhancement request at <
http://developer.apple.com/bugreporter>
providing as detailed a request as possible. In other words, something
like "Need API documentation for MIDIPacketLists" rather than "Need
better CoreAudio documentation." It's also helpful to detail how much
time and effort you spent that could have been saved if the
documentation were more to your liking. This advice applies to any part
of Mac OS X, not just CoreAudio.
Don't worry about whether someone else may have filed a similar
request. Multiple requests for the same thing help Apple management
assess the demand for a particular change.
In fairness, it may take some time to get to a given request. Please
don't let that discourage you from filing them though.
Thanks,
